IVVQ Test Specialist
Thales Canada — Defence & Security (National Shipbuilding Strategy)
📍 Victoria, BC (Mill Bay / Esquimalt), Canada | 🗓️ 2026 – Present
- Integration, Verification, Validation & Qualification (IVVQ) — Plan and execute end-to-end IVVQ campaigns on naval combat and mission systems for Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy program. Own the full verification lifecycle from requirements analysis through test execution, defect resolution, and formal acceptance reporting.
- Test Planning & Procedure Authoring — Develop test plans, detailed test procedures, and test cases with structured entry/exit criteria, measurable pass/fail thresholds, prerequisite configurations, safety precautions, stop conditions, and evidence capture requirements. Ensure every procedure is repeatable, auditable, and traceable to source requirements.
- Requirements Analysis & Traceability — Analyze system and subsystem requirements to derive verification strategies. Build and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM) linking each requirement to its verification method, test case, execution evidence, and closure status. Work within IBM DOORS for requirements management and traceability.
- Defect Identification, Analysis & Resolution — Detect and document integration defects with structured evidence packages: environment/configuration state, steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results, severity/priority rationale, and supporting logs or screenshots. Coordinate root cause analysis with Systems and Software Engineering teams and verify corrections through formal retest with objective evidence.
- Test Event Execution — Lead and execute test events at Victoria-area shipyards and onboard vessels, including system integration milestones and sea trials. Operate in physically demanding, safety-critical environments requiring rigorous hazard awareness, LOTO compliance, and real-time coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Reporting, Metrics & Stakeholder Communication — Produce clear, evidence-based test reports and status updates for engineering management and program stakeholders. Track and communicate test progress, requirement coverage, defect density, and trend analysis to support data-driven project decisions.
- Configuration Control & Process Compliance — Operate within Thales’ gated review framework, configuration management system, and internal quality processes. Maintain audit-ready test artifacts including plans, procedures, execution logs, anomaly reports, and verification evidence packages.
- Defence Security Environment — Work within a classified defence program environment. Eligible for Canadian Secret, Controlled Goods, ITAR, NATO Secret, and COMSEC security clearances.
